Diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease worldwide.

Type 2 diabetes in particular is increasing rapidly worldwide. Due to modern lifestyle, too little exercise and too much and fatty food, the number of people suffering from diabetes is increasing.

There are about 800,000 people in Austria suffering from diabetes mellitus. However, about 294,000 of these people are still undiagnosed.
