Diabetes mellitus is the most common metabolic disease worldwide.
 
Type 2 diabetes in particular is increasing rapidly worldwide. Due to modern lifestyle, too little exercise and too much and fatty food, the number of people suffering from diabetes is increasing. At present, there are 600,000 people in Austria suffering from diabetes mellitus. In 2030, it is conservatively estimated that there will be more than 800,000 in Austria. The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) estimates that in 2045 a total of about 548 million people worldwide could suffer from a glucose metabolism disorder.
 
The following signs can indicate a metabolic disorder or diabetes:

  • Anadipsia
  • Increased urination
  • Tiredness, weariness
  • Dramatic weight loss
  • Skin inflammation, pruritus
  • Bad wound-healing
